W10: Dream Big Dreams
Dream Big Dreams
Every week, I look forward to learning something new, and this week’s focus on dreaming big really resonated with me. The readings and videos helped me better understand what it means to pursue my potential with faith and purpose.
Marissa Mayer’s “License to Pursue Dreams” stood out because it showed how powerful trust and creativity can be. Google’s “20 percent time” wasn’t just about giving employees extra hours; it was about giving them confidence and permission to explore their ideas. That made me think about how often I limit myself by doubting my own ideas before I even try them. Mayer’s message reminded me that taking initiative and being willing to experiment can open doors I didn’t realize were possible.
Kathy Huber’s story also inspired me, especially her resilience. She faced discrimination and major setbacks, including the collapse of her company, yet she refused to let those challenges define her. Instead, she chose to learn from them. I admire how she pushed forward, reinvented herself, and used her experiences to help others. Her example reminded me that setbacks can become stepping stones if we keep going.
The spiritual highlight of the week was President Dallin H. Oaks’ talk “The Challenge to Become.” His message shifted my focus from simply doing things to becoming something more. He teaches that the Lord cares most about who we are becoming, our character, our humility, and our willingness to change. This made me reflect on the habits I am forming and the woman I want to become as a daughter of God. It also connected perfectly with entrepreneurship, because true success comes from inner transformation.
As I continue in this course, I’m excited to learn more about how to align my dreams with the person the Lord wants me to become. This week helped me understand that dreaming big is not just about ambition; it’s about growth, service, resilience, purpose, and trusting God with the journey.
